Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I exercise with the SPINEFITTER by SISSEL®?

It has been shown that performing selected exercises every other day for 10 to 15 minutes is effective. Initially, 3 to 6 repetitions per exercise are optimal and sufficient; later, an increase to 8 to 10 repetitions is possible. In addition, you can do a 10-minute stretching session on the SPINEFITTER every day, combining light stretching exercises with lying on the multitool. You can find 12 free exercise videos for your training with the SPINEFITTER on our homepage. Here you will find our 12 free exercise videos to train and get inspired. Do the different colours of the SPINEFITTER have a meaning (e.g. a different degree of hardness)? All SPINEFITTER by SISSEL® colour variants have the same degree of hardness. The different colours are purely visual, so that you can choose the perfect colour for you. Whether anthracite, green, blue or purple, the SPINEFITTER is the right choice for your training.

Does the SPINEFITTER fit every back?

To provide you with optimal support, the SPINEFITTER must support both the sacrum and the head. This is almost always possible for people up to 180 cm in height. For taller users, there is also the SPINEFITTER by SISSEL® Extension Kit. The extension kit can be used to extend the SPINEFITTER by SISSEL® by 2 pairs of balls. This enables people up to 200 cm in height to lie optimally on the multitool and perform the exercises.Click here to go directly to the extension kit. What do I do if I find the pressure on my head uncomfortable when using the SPINEFITTER?If the neck muscles are very tense, the pressure of the balls on the back of the head may be felt as unpleasant. In this case, it helps to place a flat cushion or towel between the head and the balls. However, it must be removed during theBridging exercise, however, it must be removed so as not to increase the pressure in the cervical spine.

Can I use the SPINEFITTER in bed or on the treatment bench?

Basically yes. Since the entire spine lies on the SPINEFITTER in the supine position, an additional soft surface is possible. This reduces the pressure of the balls on the back muscles somewhat, but at the same time the instability of the multitool increases. When the SPINEFITTER is positioned transversely, only positioning under the sacrum is possible, as otherwise stronger levers will act if the support surface is too soft.

Does the SPINEFITTER replace a fascia roller?

No. The SPINEFITTER by SISSEL® is an alternative to the fascia roller. It has a different mode of action, but can be used for the same purposes as a fascia roller. Its pressure is punctual and not flat, which can be better processed in the tissue and reflexively in the movement control. Due to the high-quality material chosen (fully expanded PU foam), the Multitool is much more flexible and supple than most fascia rollers. The structure adapts to the spine much better than conventional fascia rollers, which means that the intervertebral joints can be optimally mobilised.

May the SPINEFITTER be used in case of a herniated disc?

The SPINEFITTER is contraindicated for an acute herniated disc, since stabilisation and pain relief are the main focus after a herniated disc. At this point, treatment by a doctor or physiotherapist is advisable. After 3 months, it is possible to do exercises on the SPINEFITTER after consultation with the therapist. It may be useful to work on symmetry and deep stabilisation, as well as to mobilise the area of the prolapse in a controlled manner.

May the SPINEFITTER be used in case of a spinal fusion?

A stiffening (spondylodesis) is a contraindication for exercises on the SPINEFITTER. Exercises with the SPINEFITTER mobilise the facet joints, which would make the joints adjacent to the spondylodesis, which are already hypermobile, even more mobile. Tip: Lying on the SPINEFITTER is possible (lengthwise and crosswise) to release tense muscles. However, this should be discussed with the treating physician in advance.

May scoliosis patients use the SPINEFITTER?

This depends on the severity of the scoliosis. In principle, mild scoliosis benefits from the symmetrical feedback to the paravertebral muscles, which can help to release tension. However, specialised physiotherapists must take over the targeted treatment of scoliosis. A study on the effectiveness of the SPINEFITTER for scoliosis patients is currently in the planning stage. We look forward to publishing the results after the study has been finalised. If you have any questions regarding the use of the SPINEFITTER with existing health restrictions (e.g. herniated disc, stiffening of the spine, scoliosis), please consult your doctor or therapist in advance.
